RESUMO
El presente artículo reflexiona sobre la nueva modalidad de enseñanza en bioética utilizando una plataforma de aprendizaje virtual. Se señalan las ventajas y dificultades de este nuevo modelo y los desafíos para que sea más efectivo en sus objetivos pedagógicos. Se recomienda el uso de modelos de aprendizaje semipresenciales o de combinación mixta presencial y no presencial en la utilización de la enseñanza virtual en bioética.
The present paper reflects about the new bioethics teaching modality that employs a platform of virtual teaching. It points out this model's advantages and difficulties and the challenges it faces in order to reach an effective result of its pedagogical aims. It recommends to employ semipresential learning models or the combination of a mixed bioethics' virtual teaching: presential and non presential.
O presente artigo reflete sobre a nova modalidade de ensino em bioética, utilizando uma plataforma de aprendizagem virtual. Assinalam-se as vantagens e dificuldades deste novo modelo e os desafios para que seja mais efetivo em seus objetivos pedagógicos. Recomenda-se o uso de modelos de aprendizagem semipresenciais ou de combinação mista presencial e não presencial, na utilização do ensino virtual em bioética.

The present reflection refers to data obtained about the social representations of genomic research and its applications through interviews with legislators and lawyers, biomedical researchers and civilians and the review of scientific and legal literature in four Latin American countries: Argentine, Chile, Mexico and Peru. Several issues are addressed: little access to prevention and therapeutic methods, lack of equity in health benefits, commercialization of gene sequences through patents which leads to commercial exploitation of underdeveloped countries, the possibility of physical or psychological damage or genetic discrimination, the possibility of genetic modifications or abortion for eugenic reasons, the necessity of safeguarding confidentiality, risks and benefits of the use of transgenics and cloning, the necessity of legal regulation to prevent the pathway towards genetic enhancement or reproductive human cloning and of regulating access to genetic information. Using the method of content analysis of verbal behaviour to evaluate the degree of anxiety and hostility of subjects in relation to the Human Genome Project (HGP) developed by Gottschalk and Gleser, an inverse relation between levels of anxiety and level of knowledge was observed which highlights the importance of educating the population. Differences in the level of hostility towards the HGP were also found among the groups.

La reflexión presente se refiere a los datos obtenidos sobre representaciones sociales de la investigacióngenómica y sus aplicaciones, a través de la revisión de la literatura escrita en medios locales por investigadores biomédicos de cuatro países latinoamericanos: Argentina, Chile, México y Perú.Se identifican varios temas: poco acceso en Latinoamérica a los métodos de prevención y terapéuticos de la medicinagenómica; el riesgo asociado con modificaciones genéticas en humanos; la falta de equidad en el acceso a beneficios de la salud; el control que ejercen las compañías biotecnológicas; la comercialización de las secuencias génicas por patentes que llevan a la explotación comercial de países en desarrollo; la posibilidad de daño físico o psicológico por estigmatización o por discriminación genética; la posibilidad de modificaciones genéticas o aborto por razones eugenésicas, la necesidad de salvaguardar la confidencialidad; la poca participación de las comunidades indígenas en el estudio de su ADN, algunas veces sin un apropiado consentimiento informado; la necesidad de regulación legal para prevenir que se realicen modificaciones genéticas de mejoría o la clonación humana reproductiva, y para regular el acceso a la información genética.
